Coin Necklace

My grandfather was a jeweler. Long before I was born he made coin necklaces for his kids out of Kennedy half dollars. When I first saw one of those necklaces as a kid I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It felt so important, like it was treasure!

When I started making jewelry I swore I'd make myself one. I haven't yet, the time hasn't been right, but I made myself a necklace out of a quarter and I end up wearing it almost every day. Since then I've made coin necklaces out of arcade tokens, foreign currency, bottle caps. Random little treasures inspired by family heirlooms.
